Introduction

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you all had a great week. Remember, if this issue shows up in your promotions folder, add it to your main inbox so you don’t miss any future issues.

Today, I have a simple browser extension that packs a punch for those of us who use socials a little too much (let’s be honest, that’s ALL of us). It’s like Unhook but for everything. Let’s see what I mean 👇.

SocialFocus

🧠 What Is It?

SocialFocus is your built-in social media bouncer. If you’ve opened up X to catch up on what people are saying on the latest political breaking news, and then spent 30 minutes interacting with the Clash Royale community, SocialFocus fixes that. With it, you can remove as many features on social media sites as you want with simple toggles.

  • Free browser extension (Chrome, Firefox, Safari) that hides addictive content feeds.

  • Keeps essential site features with toggles.

  • Makes scrolling aimlessly pointless (because you won’t be seeing anything 💀).

  • Subtle and lightweight. It doesn’t lock you out completely, just removes the bait.

⚙ How Do You Use It?

The key is to forget about it once you download it. Make the limited interface of your favorite social media site feel normal.

  • Install SocialFocus in your browser.

  • Use social media like normal.

  • Feed blockers work automatically once installed.

  • Getting distracted still? Block more content/features with the toggles or just play around with it to see what works.

Of course, if you really need to, you can unblock things just as quickly as you can block them. Buttt let’s not give up so easily 💪.

🧹 What Does it Replace?

All the time you’ve ever lost by “checking something quick” 💀. And also…

  • Aggressive site blockers that lock you out entirely.

  • That temptation to waste time since you’re already on the site anyway.

  • That excuse of “needing YouTube for research”.

  • Distraction… with disciple-lite.

SocialFocus gives you easy restriction abilities, while all the power remains with you. You can toggle as many features on and off as you want, but it’s up to you to use them usefully. It gives a more discipline-focused route for a more productive future.

🤫 Tulio’s Tips

  • Delete the Habit, Not the App: You don’t need to delete Insta or Snap for your academic comeback. During the workday, just log off or remove them from the home screen. Small friction = big results.

  • Set Fake Deadlines: If your essay is due Friday, convince yourself it’s due Wednesday instead (especially if you have a lot of other work). Trick your brain into starting early. (Your professor will still get it late though 😜.)

  • “Temptation Bundling”: Pair something you need to do (homework) with something you enjoy (study playlist, gum, fancy pen). And you can only have the latter if you combine it WITH your task. Productivity snacks, basically.

📆 Weekday Challenge

(I said “Weekday on Friday too, mb 💀)

🔃 The Mindless Swap Challenge

Every time you catch yourself about to open a social media app out of boredom, swap it with something else for 5 days straight.

Instagram → Duolingo

TikTok → read 2 pages of a book

X → jot an idea down in Notes

No need to delete anything, just retrain the muscle. And reserve social media for only important activities.

Turn your autopilot into a productivity pilot.
