Introduction
Happy Friday, everyone! I hope you all had a great week. Remember, if this issue shows up in your promotions folder, add it to your main inbox so you don’t miss any future issues.
In Today’s issue, I have a classic note taking app that’s privacy-first. Well, it’s not really taking notes. Just pressing a button.
Basil AI
🧠 What Is It?
Basil AI is a note taking app that can record your lectures for you by just pressing a button. It transcribes everything and can record for the whole day! The best part is that it’s privacy first. You don’t even need to make an account. Just download and go!
Real-time transcription. Instant speech-to-text conversion.
Transcribes for the whole day.
100% private. All processing happens on your device.
Optionally enable your location to add to your transcriptions to see where they were made.
⚙ How Do You Use It?
Very, very easy to use app 💀.
Download Basil AI.
Set up a new folder for your class (or whatever you want it for).
Start recording.
Read your transcript instantly when finished.
With Basil AI, just press that record button, kick back, and listen to your professor yap for the rest of the class. No need to actively take notes.
🧹 What Does it Replace?
A BIG one here. Of course it’s…
Actively taking notes in class (c’mon, we all hate it 💀).
Also: missing what your professor said and not being able to get it down.
And: Giving up on studying because your notes aren’t in a readable format (sometimes, simpler is better).
Basil AI is the simplest note taking tool for students who are too lazy to take notes and value privacy. Have all your recordings stay on your device and never need to type/write notes again with Basil AI.
🤫 Tulio’s Tips
“20-Miunte Rule”: Tell yourself you’ll do just 20% of a task. That’s it. No pressure to finish it. Then 80% of the time, motivation will come through and let you finish it completely. But if not, 20% is still a W (better than 0% at least 💀).
Notis Off For One App: Pick the app that you get the most notifs from (and make sure it’s a unproductive app too). Turn your notifs off for it for a day to start. Most of the chaos in your day isn’t planned; it’s from distractions.
Stop Using Your Brain: For note-taking that is. Your brain isn’t meant to hold mass information over long periods of time. When you think of something important, jot it down somewhere on the spot. Your brain is for ideas, not grocery lists and assignment deadlines.
📆 Weekend Challenge
🗑 Digital Declutter
This weekend, do a declutter in all your digital spaces. ALL of them. It’s a challenge after all.
Your phone’s home screen.
Your email inbox.
Your desktop files.
Your camera roll (always the dreaded one 😭).
Your open tabs (yes, all 67 of them).
You’ll feel like you just went through therapy without needing to cry.
And on Monday, you’ll thank your weekend self.
